Given all the praise heaped on the BMW 3 Series over the years, we can’t blame you for thinking there’s more to the story. We’ve heard all the conspiracy theories, most of them involving checks in large denominations from Munich.
This might seem believable to a certain segment of the population, but there’s a far less interesting truth behind all those wins: The BMW was the best car. Sure, certain rivals often upped their game in one area or another, but the 3 Series always put it all together in a way that made it better.
So now the 2010 Audi S4 is here to take another shot. It’s all-new this year and the old V8 is gone. There’s now a supercharged V6 in its place, along with a lower price designed to better align the S4 with the BMW 335i.
The BMW 3 Series received a face-lift of its own last year. It was mostly minor trim changes and the like, but we’re told that iDrive thing was tweaked again, too (oh, lovely).
Sounds like a fair fight, no?

You didn’t get my point. R8 is a 2-seater mid-engined sports car and M6 is a high-performance version of 6-series coupé, which in turn is based on 5-series. They are very different type of cars despite similar performance numbers.

cuz chicks love it when you pick them up in ricers? Dude, I’m only 23 and I already feel to old to be driving around in a civic. When you drive a 335 or an S4 or a corvette, ppl know you also have a garage to put it in, which is attached to your home or condo, then you put your car keys down next to the bed where do your hot successful wife/gf/neighbor. and How about going to a wedding or something in a tux, and then looking like an in your civic, now THATS lame?

And so what if the 335 is older? They didn’t say it’s a bad car, all they said is that there is a new sheriff in town, the S4. and dont worry, I’m sure when the 2012 3-series comes out BMW will have an answer for the the S4. (sigh) I love that 335i so much, but it is getting old.

I own a BMW 335xi so I’m biased but as tested the Audi was $59,150 and the BMW was $49,320. I’ll take the BMW and the extra $10k

why didn’t he go for the S4 against the M3?? S4 is the sports version and the 335i is not, the M3 is. M3 beats the S4 plus the S4 is newer than the 335i they used. LAME!!!

both cars are nice but if your talking numbers like in this video…a $100 ecu chip dropped in the 335 would take care of the 0-60 and 1/4 mile gap the s4 has on the bimmer.

its comparable cuz m6 has better acceleration..and the r8 has better handling…therefore on a track they would be about the same
