I’m planning to buy an 1999 audi A6 Quattro and I don’t know to much about the maintenance on the car. I don’t want to get a car thats going to cost me a lot of money. I need to know if they break down a lot?

I had one, I’ll never buy another, German engineering :(

It’s funny you should mention Audi, there’s one up the street from us with no engine in it :(

Can I hook up iPod/Sat Radio to a 2004 5 Series BMW?

1

Posted on : 17-02-2010 | By : admin | In : BMW

I am looking for the best way to hookup an iPod and aftermarket Sirius Radio to my 2004 BMW 5 series. I contacted bmw and they can add an AUX port for $275, however this setup will not provide me with steering wheel controls or a track display on my nav screen. Is there a better option out there, that won’t break the bank? Thanks for your help!

Sell your car and buy a new one that has what you want.

How much would a tint job cost for a 03 Volkswagen Passat glx?

I would like most likely the darkest allowed in FL and a lifetime warranty. Also, does anyone know any good, reliable tinting places in Cape Coral, FL or Ft. Myers, FL? Also, it doesn’t take very long for a tint job, right?

standard rate for a sedan would be 150 bux for all 5 windows.

Does anybody KNOW ! what vw/Audi parts fit an 85 porsche 944. Clips, pipes, tubes brackets anything?

I am restoring a 944 2/5 auto 85 plate and need bits and bobs i know the door handles of a golf, but are there any german car bits that fit the porsche, interior trim, engine bits or anything else that people would know about. Thanks guys and girls, any reply is appreciated. Please feel free to ask me about your car problems, i have been doing cars for 12 years.
Regards.

I suggest checking out rockauto.com and pelicanparts.com, when you look up a specific part you can bring up the year, make, model, category, part… and then click on the part number, it’ll bring up the buyer’s guide on the site and let you know what that part will fit.

For instance… i go to rockauto, go to the catalog, look up porsche, 85, 944, 2.5L 2475cc L4 MFI, emission, Thermo Vacuum Valve, click the part number and now i have a list that shows me that the same part not only fits my 944, but an audi 4000 from 1980-1983 or a 1984 Audi 4000 S, or even a VW Fox from 1987-1993.

You can do the same thing on pelican parts by looking up the porsche, category, part # and then going to "More info" and it’ll tell you what other cars it will fit. Though they are mostly geared directly towards Porsche/bmw, etc… so it usually only shows other correlating Porsches. Rockauto is more in depth by showing you entirely different brands.

So hunt and peck away for what you need and you can search in a junk or heap yard, used parts, or even order them from there and you’ll have that puppy back in shape in no time :)

Keep in mind also that things such as the tail lights from the 924 are interchangeable as well as the seat brackets and other simple things, the hatch is also directly interchangable from the 924 and the 944 so if you find a totaled 924 you can sometimes salvage parts from that (though keep in mind the engines and transmission are different, though they can be adapted with modification, but its mostly going to be the interior and exterior pieces that are changeable). The 924 and 944 can also have the headlight motors and headlight arms adapted and changed, etc… the 944 is basically just a beefed up 924 and the 924 doesn’t hold value well, so finding a junked or heaped one that may have some parts you need can sometimes be easier. Check ebay as well because you can also hunt down 924/944 and Audi 4000 parts because the Audi 4000 carries a lot of parts that are swappable. Like I said, check Rockauto for the exact pieces so you know what you are looking for before you go jumping into a pile of cars looking.

Have fun! The 944 is a great car! I also recommend 944online.com as they are 100% dedicated to the 944, great bunch of people over there!

PS: Check your timing belts on it if you haven’t done so already… you do NOT want the belts to snap unless you like rebuilding engines.

which car should i buy a 2009 bmw 5 sereis sedan or a mercedes benz e63 amg ?

Posted on : 17-02-2010 | By : admin | In : BMW

which is better and why ? i know a 5 sereis is sportier but i need to know about quality and luxury?

e63 amg is 10x more sportier than a bmw 5-series. if you can afford the e63amg then go for it, looks better, it is more luxurious, faster, handles better, and better built than a bmw 5 series. bad part is that 2009 e63 amg cost around $75k (brand new summer 2008 was close to $100k), while 5-series will be around $50k. personally i think the e63 looks so much better than the 5-series also. good luck with your choice.

What is the top speed of a 2002 Volkswagen Passat?

My dad’s car has the 1.8L turbocharged engine in it and he swears up and down that he could easily break 140mph. I don’t think he could get it past 120mph. Does anyone know what the stock top speed of this car is?

The ECU will shut it down at 121 mph. It probably will go faster but the computer will limit it.

Audi/VW Auto spare parts catalogue?

Posted on : 17-02-2010 | By : admin | In : Audi

I am trying to setup small size parts sales centre to import and sell VW/audi parts, but I have no idea how or where to get the parts catalogue which would enhance part number selection based on VIN Numbers.

Can anybody help? Great ideas would be highly appreciated!

Thanks.

What you need is called ETKA. You can see most of the parts at http://www.vagcat.com/ but I would obtain a legitimate copy of the software for what you are doing; the one I linked is out of date. I did find some copies for download, but not sure how valid they are.

What parts do I need to change for a Tune up on a BMW 318is 91?

Can any body tell me what parts do I need to change to do a tune up on my bmw 91 318is. Do I need any special tools to change any parts? Are there any "got ya" in a tune up for this cars?
Thanks

Tune up are all the same (on old cars).

Spark plugs,
Spark plug wires,
Coils,
Distributors,
Rotors,
Air filter.

I don’t know the specific of the BMW but I would NOT doubt you need special tools (like allen wrench), etc.

Good Luck…

Is £9000 worth it for a high mileage BMW 5 Series new shape?

I have seen a 2005 bmw 525D new shape with black leather seats going for £9000. It has 108000 miles but is in perfect condition and appears stunning. Is this a good deal? What do you think?

The crucial question is service history. A car of this calibre should have been regularly serviced throughout its life. If the documentation proves this you have little to worry about as it will do double this mileage with ease. If the docs aren’t there I would walk away. Simple as that.
