My car’s master key for my Passat just suddenly stopped operating today, and I don’t believe that the batteries are dead. I read in my car manual how to reprogram or "restart" the key, but I couldn’t get it to work. Does anybody know how to do this? Or is there possibly something else wrong with the key? It’s kind of important that I get it fixed because I only have one master key to get into my car. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Your battery is more than likely dead. To get the battery out, flip the key blade out, then you will see a light that splits the key fob in half, just under the VW emblem. Pull it apart, as in the key blad peice away from key ring. Then on the side that the key ring is attached to, it opens like a clam shell, so just pull apart where the key blade would rest in, so if the fob is laying down pull the top off. There is a battery in there, I can’t remember what size the battery is, i know I get them at Target or any place that sells flat batteries, most jewelry stores dont have them. I want to say it is a CR2032 but i could be mistaken.
Put back together and your key should work, if it isnt the battery you gotta take it to the dealership, and dont be suprised if they ask for a minimum of $70 if they are SUPER nice.
But it is prolly just a dead battery, $3 and you will be set.
Here is a DIY with the battery type as well.

I hit a recycle bin on the freeway cause this one car rammed it which pushed it into my car. I now have a cracked bumper, foglight, and the grill piece in front of the foglight (snapped onto the bumper but removable)
Where can i go to buy these parts for good deals if any at all? Thanks.

If not, can someone tell where to get the most affordable bmw parts?
the most affordable probably will be from auto parts ware house, and they will be original parts more than likely,i ordered a window motor and regulator from them and it came in a Mercedes original box, motor and regulator was 109.00 brand new, terrific deal for original parts,i have never had any problems from anything i order from them, and they got it to me overnight, which was really good, since i needed it, their a good place to deal with, good luck.

I’m purchasing a 98 bmw 528i and I’m considering picking up a cold air kit. There is a lot out there and was just wondering which brand offers the best performance/quality for the price.
You’ll gain MAYBE 2 or 3 horsepower. Those claims that the manufacturers make of 40 a horsepower are bogus.
If you are just doing an intake and nothing else, you could probably skip out on it and put that money elsewhere – you won’t really notice a big difference. If you are doing FI (forced induction, turbo), they can help a bit. Dinan makes good stuff, but they are kinda pricey.

its my 99 volkswagen passat, i got it serviced for a thermostat warning and the coolant was filled with oil. i got the coolant tank , radiator and gasket replaced. now the issue of thermostat warning has surfaced again, what does it mean. should i take it to the service centre
If you’ve never had your water pump changed, that’s what it is. They’re meant to be replaced every 60-80K miles. The plastic impeller will slowly disintegrate, and if you keep driving it you’ll cook the engine. Get it replaced with the redesigned waterpump that has a metal impeller.

looking for a part called a clock spring and am having trouble finding one for my grand daughters vehicle and it needs to be "triptronic" what ever the heck that means.
Start with your local parts store but I have a hunch that this is a dealer part. You did not state what year the car is, that’s important as the dealers are not committed to carry parts for cars more than 7 years old. The good news is that the Germans are usually very good at not leaving you stranded if it’s an older model, you can almost always order the part. The triptronic transmissions have paddle shifters on the steering wheel that allow you to shift up or down for yourself if you want to.

i want o buy a bmw x5 but i heard like just an oil change is like $60 more than a ford windstar? What do you say?
Yes. It uses Premium gas, synthetic oils, and parts and maintenance cost about 50 percent more than Ford parts.

I have a 2006 VW Passat Value Edition. I want to be able to play my iPod through the CD changer port in the glove box. I prefer not to use an FM adapter, and I do not have a tape player. Do you know of any products that I could use? Thanks!

I was hoping to add some speed to my audi a6. I know the engines are similar or the same but what makes the s4 faster? Can i put some of those parts into my A6?
If possible would it be hard to swap them from a salvaged s4?
thanks
if it’s a 4.2 around the same year you can but most of it is in the chips. ECM and TCM
You can with out a doubt tune a 2.7t to blow the doors off a 4.2L. I would do a tcm chip or flash first.
