I need a dependable car to last for the next five years. I usually only buy Hondas or Toyotas. I’m not too familer with the Volkswagen brand. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
The Passat is a expensive car when it needs repair. I have a friend that has over 175,000 miles on theit 2001 Passat but that haven’t been cheap miles.

a 99 passat is probably used up by now.the moter will run forever with proper maintenance but stupid things will start braking & falling off like door handles &window moters etc.& anything with the autounion emblem [ those cute little rings] is expensive.stick with the hondas or toyotas.
