its my 99 volkswagen passat, i got it serviced for a thermostat warning and the coolant was filled with oil. i got the coolant tank , radiator and gasket replaced. now the issue of thermostat warning has surfaced again, what does it mean. should i take it to the service centre
If you’ve never had your water pump changed, that’s what it is. They’re meant to be replaced every 60-80K miles. The plastic impeller will slowly disintegrate, and if you keep driving it you’ll cook the engine. Get it replaced with the redesigned waterpump that has a metal impeller.

I think the thermostat is old but you should take it back to garage who did your head gasket

is it a 1.8t or V6? do you have oil again in the coolant tank? if you do then your oil cooler seals are bad. If the oil is back in the coolant tank you just need to replace the oil cooler and get that waterpump replaced and while you are getting it replaced replace your timing belt and tensioner you might as well since you are already in there.
